This week in reunions... Remy Zero!

* Remy Zero, who broke up in 2003, reunited last year for a few scattered shows as a tribute to their drummer, who died of cystic fibrosis in January 2010. Now they've released a new single that's available as a free download here. Will there be a new album, or more shows? No plans as of yet. I wonder if they made so much money off the Smallville theme song that they still don't need day jobs?

* Not sure what the status of the Rage Against the Machine reunion is; they played a few dates in South America last fall, but have made no progress toward releasing any new music since their reformation in 2007. Tom Morello, meanwhile, spent last week in Wisconsin protesting with union leaders. Zack de la Rocha was not in attendance.

* Stone Temple Pilots are touring the US again. Antiquiet reviewed one of the first shows, in an Oklahoma casino.

* Chris Cornell tells Spin that Soundgarden starts recording their new album soon. Adam Kasper, who produced 1996's Down on the Upside as well as albums by the Foo Fighters, Queens of the Stone Age, and Pearl Jam, is producing.

This week in break-ups... Smashing Pumpkins

* Jimmy Chamberlin, the one non-Corgan original member of the Smashing Pumpkins, has left the band. This is the first time he's done so of his own accord (he was kicked out due to a heroin addiction in '96, but came back to the fold eventually). Corgan still plans to record and tour as the Smashing Pumpkins.

* Nothing concrete, but John Frusciante just released a solo album, and Chad Smith is now drumming for Chickenfoot, the new supergroup featuring Joe Satriani, Sammy Hagar, and Michael Anthony. And I haven't heard much from Flea or Anthony Kiedis in awhile. Are the Chili Peppers still together?

* Don't expect to see more Rage Against the Machine dates this summer, as Tom Morello has a new band called Street Sweeper that'll be opening up for Nine Inch Nails and Jane's Addiction.

This week in reunions...

With only a trickle of reunion news over the holidays, this week's post is more like this month in reunions, but whatever.

* The biggest news of the month (for this site) is that Tonic are getting back together for a national tour and a new album sometime this year.

* Rage Against the Machine, on the other hand, have been back together for nearly two years, but don't expect to ever hear a reunion album, Tom Morello says.

* Lance Bass thinks an 'n Sync reunion might happen. My wife and all her high school friends are pumped.

* Blur are back together, playing Glastonbury, and maybe playing Coachella in the US.

* Hey, remember Dexter Freebish? They're back together and working on a greatest hits. Did they have hits?

* The Phish reunion tour kicks off in June. Dates here.

* And last but not least, Tommy Lee says he's getting his homies together for another Methods of Mayhem album. Awesome? Here's 1999's "Get Naked" (NSFW lyrically and visually):

This week in reunions...

* Rage Against the Machine, as previously noted, are touring this summer, but apparently not working on any new music together. Frontman Zack de la Rocha finally (after 10 years) will release an album July 22 called One Day as a Lion. Oh, wait, it's an EP. So it's taken him 10 years to do five tracks. Wow. You can listen to collaborations with Trent Reznor and DJ Shadow that have already appeared here. Meanwhile, Tom Morello will release his second solo album, The Fabled City, on September 30. To recap: since RATM broke up the first time, Morello has made three Audioslave albums and two solo albums. De la Rocha has put out a soundtrack contribution, an online-only single, and an EP.

* Shudder to Think are back together for the first time since 1998 for nine shows scattered throughout the summer and fall, including appearances at August's Virgin Festival in Baltimore, September's Virgin Festival in Toronto and October's Virgin (sorry, Voodoo) Festival in New Orleans. * Sadly, it doesn't look as if the Get Up Kids (who broke up in July 2005) are getting back together anytime soon, what with keyboardist James Deewees releasing a new album with Reggie and the Full Effect and (maybe) joining My Chemical Romance, former lead singer Matthew Pryor doing kids' music with the Terrible Twos, and guitarist Jim Suptic rocking out Replacements-style with the Blackpool Lights. But hey, a guy can dream, can't he?

This week in reunions...

* Blur bassist Alex James says the band will eventually get back together, though probably not anytime soon.

* First, Trey Anastasio said he and the other members of Phish have been "talking," only four years after they broke up and presumably stopped talking. Then keyboardist Page McConnell told ArtistDirect that the band will meet before the end of 2008 and "discuss options." Then Billboard.com said a reunion album has already been planned, with Steve Lillywhite producing (Lillywhite declined comment). Then I lost interest.

* Don't look for the original lineup of Fuel to get back together this year, if only because ex-lead singer Brett Scallions is sitting in the Jim Morrison chair for Ray Manzarek and Robbie Krieger's Riders on the Storm project, which is touring Europe next month.

* The reunited Rage Against The Machine have still not produced any music, but they are playing several European festivals, then Lollapalooza in Chicago in early August, followed by possible protests at both the Republican and Democratic conventions.
